31 days of love...day 11

Psalm 136:23-26 (The Message)...God remembered us when we were down, His lover never quits.  Rescued us from the trampling boot, His love never quits.  Takes care of everyone in times of need.  His love never quits.  Thank God, who did it all!  His love never quits!

Psalm 136:23-26 (HCSB)...He remembered us in our humiliation, His love is eternal.  and rescued us from our foes.  His love is eternal.  He gives food to every creature.  His love is eternal.  Give thanks to the God of heaven.  His love is eternal.

At times, I like to compare different versions of the Bible.  I like seeing verses worded differently because it can offer me a better understanding of what God is telling me.

Verse 23 states that God remembers us when we are down, when we are humiliated.  I don't know about you, but I have had times in my life where I have been humiliated with a capital H.  I was more than down, I was searching for the nearest hole to climb in to.  During our humiliation, we can experience the feeling that we are being trampled on.  This trampling may come from our own condemning of ourselves, or it may even come from those around us.  It is a horrible feeling!

Don't you just love that His promise is to take care of everyone in times of need?  During our humiliating times when we feel ashamed, embarrassed, and alone our wonderful Creator swoops in and takes care of us.  Imagine a child who is so sad and crying.  Our first instinct is to reach down, place the child in our laps,  and wrap our loving arms around him or her.  I am beyond grateful that our Father does the same for us.  He does not leave us to cry alone and  be humiliated alone.  He wraps His loving arms around us and wipes our tears with His ever tender hands.  I don't know how you react to that, but that gives me chills.

Lastly, I love that the Message says His love never quits.  Think about that.  There is nothing we can do or say that causes our Father to quit loving us.  Our humiliation may lead some humans to stop loving us.  It may even lead to not feeling love for ourselves.  It may cause people to turn their backs on us.  GOD NEVER DOES.  That reassures this girl's heart.  I NEED to know that no matter what, His love is always and forever.
