Weekend Wrap Up

I hope everyone had a weekend that was filled with activities that turn into memories. :)

Our weekend was a whirlwind of many things.  As I always say, as long as God is at the center of our activities, all is well.

On Friday afternoon, we attended Dr. Twining's funeral.  It pains me just to type that.  He had such an influence on our family.  I just cannot fully explain how deeply we love this man.  I know, without a doubt, the feelings went both ways.  I truly believe we all had a spiritual connection.  His funeral was beautiful and personal.  He has five sons and two of them spoke.  They spoke of what a wonderful man he was.  As my husband put it, "I don't think there was a dry eye when they were speaking."  The love that poured out of them was one that cannot be fabricated.  It was evident that their family was bonded by deep, true love.  I feel blessed that I know his wife.  We were able to hug each other and cry.  She told my children how much Dr. Twining loved them.  I love her and am thankful that God placed the Twinings in our lives.  I miss him so badly.  It has been over a week and my heart aches now just as it did the day he went home to be with Jesus.  I know he is with Jesus and one day we will be reunited with him.  That brings me peace.  I'm not sure when I will have a day without tears.  I'm ok with that.  I'm just pouring out my love for him.  Oh, how I wish everyone could have known him.  He is an example of what a true Jesus man is.

My husband purchased tickets to the Tenth Avenue North concert a while back.  It happened to be on Friday night.  Emily and I were to take a couple of her friends and have a girls night.  We were hesitant about going, but we knew that worshipping God would be a healing balm for our souls.  My girl had a heavy heart, but being with her friends really made a difference.  They were supportive and loving.  She was able to have a good time and enjoy the concert.  I was able to pray a lot and praise Him for Dr. Twining.  I shed some tears as I sang along.  At the end of the night, I was so glad we made the decision to go.  Nothing makes a heart feel content like spending time with Jesus.

Here are some pictures of the girls at the concert.  The girls thought it was so cool that our local Christian radio station was there.  They were able to take their picture with the DJ's.

The last picture causes my heart to fill with joy.  Notice everyone's hands in the air as they sang and praised God.  Is there any better sight??

I spent the day Saturday at a debate tournament at the high school Jorden attends.  He is a member of the debate team and our school was hosting the tournament.  The volunteers had to sell concessions and make sure the hospitality room was filled with food and drinks.  My mother in law came to help, as she does every year.  It was fun hanging out with her and getting our chat time in.  :)

Luke plays basketball for a local league and Barry is the coach.  On Saturday night, the boys had to run some drills in front of the coaches and be "scouted".  That always makes me giggle because they are just kids.  However, the coaches, boys, and many of the parents take this scouting thing serious.  Luke had a great time and I enjoyed watching him run drills.

This afternoon Emily had to go to the club she plays volleyball for and try out for what team she would be placed on.  I guess that's scouting too!  Do we get to sign contracts for monetary deals???  Oh yeah, I forgot....we did....except, the teams are getting paid, not the players!! :)

Emily is the one in the yellow shirt.  I snuck my camera out while the girls were warming up...she has no idea!
