1 John 4:21...And we have this command from Him: The one who loves God must also love his brother.
In the book of James, James tells us that faith without works is dead. We are to act upon our faith and share God's love and Word with those around us. As I read this verse it caused me to think about loving others. I love God with a passion. I desire to do His will, teach my children to live for Him and love Him, and study His word daily. I started thinking though, how do I share His love with His children really? I am a friendly person who doesn't even have to try and be nice to people. I enjoy smiling at others, saying please and thank you, and giving respect to those around me.
Yesterday as I was driving my daughter to school, I noticed a homeless man standing near a busy intersection. He was holding a sign asking for help. I smiled at him, but honestly felt a bit uncomfortable because I didn't have anything to offer him. I used to keep bags filled with food, water, and a printed Bible verse in my car to hand out in situations like this. When the summer months hit, I removed them because the heat was causing the bags to melt a bit. I haven't put them back in my car.
This verse caused me to think of that man. What did I do to share God's love? Did I stand out for God or did I fit in with the rest of the world? Today I will repack my car with love bags.
What will you do to share His love today? What are some ways we can give God's love away to His children? What a joy it is when we work together for His Kingdom!
